ALWAYS A LITTLE CLOSER TO UTOPIA: BIG • A bright smiling face beside an oversized speech bubble reading 'YES IS MORE' appears as if lifted from a comic book; a scene from a Netflix series in which a man skydives from a New York building he designed himself; a video of this man sitting on the floor drawing and saying that architecture should become more like Minecraft. These are the images that come to mind when one thinks of Bjarke Ingels, who leads BIG. BIG's architecture is equally intriguing and refreshing. It presents seemingly dreamlike ideas, such as a building you can ski on or a housing complex with a lake as its courtyard, yet these ideas are far from fanciful. Bjarke's imagination truly becomes reality. In this way, the world BIG creates moves, little by little, nearer utopia. Here, we immerse ourselves in this pragmatic and visionary world.
