On the fringes • I have a passion for passementerie. It began when, as a child, I visited London with my mother, and she took me to VV Rouleaux. The shop, then located just off Sloane Square, was decorated with swags and tassels, draped in yards of trims with luscious fat pompoms, and bright ribbons that spooled onto the floor. This is still where my eyes wander as I step into a beautifully decorated room, searching for a chunky brush trim on a cushion, or a frivolous bullion fringe on an upholstered chair.
