The Split Up • This six-part series is a cunning spin-off from the hit drama The Split, created by Abi Morgan, about a family who all work in divorce law. That show ran for three seasons plus a Christmas two-parter, and now this series, written and created by Ursula Rani Sarma, takes that idea and transplants it to a new setting – Kishan Law, a British South Asian family law firm in Manchester, known for their upscale, often famous, clients. The firm is run by family patriarch Dhruv Kishan (Sanjeev Bhaskar), who is, in theory, supposed to be relinquishing control of the company to his ambitious daughter Aria (Ritu Arya). Dhruv also has another daughter, Maya (Aysha Kala), who gave up being a lawyer to be a stay-at-home mum, and a son, Kav (Arian Nik), who’s proudly gay and works for his dad’s firm, as well. He gets flirty with ‘online gossip reporter’ Ashok, played by Mawaan Rizwan, of Juice fame.
